How to check brand name availability on Amazon
A brand name check on Amazon has three separate layers, and most sellers only do the first one. Passing all three is what stops a rejected Brand Registry application months after you have already printed packaging.
1. Marketplace check
Search the exact name on Amazon with quotes and without. If branded results appear, look at the byline under each title: that is the brand field, and it is what shoppers see. An ASIN brand name check works the same way, open the ASIN and read the brand byline. If an established seller already owns the term, ranking for your own brand name becomes an uphill fight even if the trademark is technically free.
2. Trademark register check
Amazon Brand Registry accepts marks from a specific list of offices. Search the USPTO trademark database for the US, the EUIPO register for Europe, and the WIPO Global Brand Database for a cross-border view. You are not only looking for identical marks. Examiners refuse applications for names that are confusingly similar in sound, appearance or meaning within the same class of goods.
3. Registrability check
A descriptive name such as "Best Kitchen Tools" will be refused as merely descriptive. That is the single most common reason a brand never reaches Brand Registry. The checker above flags descriptive and generic terms so you can fix the name before you pay filing fees.
Amazon Brand Registry login and support
Sign in to Amazon Brand Registry with your existing Seller Central credentials. Amazon then emails a verification code to the contact listed on the trademark record, so make sure your attorney or agent can forward it. For Amazon Brand Registry support, raise the case from the Brand Registry dashboard, not from Seller Support, because brand cases go to a dedicated queue with faster resolution.
Brand name checker vs Amazon brand name generator
An Amazon brand name generator produces candidates. A checker validates them. Work in that order: generate twenty names, run each through this checker, keep the three that score above 85, then run trademark searches on those three only. It is far cheaper than searching twenty names or, worse, filing on the wrong one.
Amazon brand name list: patterns from top sellers
Invented words
Anker, Zulay, Vremi, Ravensburger. Nothing to argue about at the trademark office, and search results are yours alone.
Real words, wrong category
Harbor, Cadence, Meridian. Familiar and easy to recall while still legally distinctive in your class.
Compound brands
CedarNest, SunBloom, StoneWorks. Two known words fused into one distinctive mark, the safest middle ground.
What almost never appears in a top Amazon seller names list: category keywords inside the brand, hyphens, numbers, or a name longer than three syllables. Those choices depress brand recall and make Brand Registry harder.
